I’m back! Well sort of: we still don’t have internet at our house so posting may be a little spotty or delayed for a few weeks, but there’s a new post today! In case you missed it, we closed on our house 11 days ago and things have been crazy ever since. We immediately chose to sleep at our new place, spending the first night on an air mattress. I tried to snap a few “before” photos the next morning when the light was flooding in all over the place.
After spending a full week carrying boxes, we are all moved in to our new house, not unpacked, but moved in. Things we have accomplished in the house: cooking our first Sunday dinner in a LONG time, installing curtains and blinds, building furniture, carrying VERY heavy furniture up small and narrow staircases, bringing home R, cleaning up after R and really enjoying our new space.
Things we haven’t accomplished in the house: getting downstairs furniture except for one chair and our new coffee table. But on the bright side, I’m so in love with that coffee table that I would totally keep it as our only piece of furniture, except for practical purposes. Luckily though our new sofas should arrive tomorrow and then it will really feel like home. I’m so excited to start decorating and sharing room photos, but these sneak peeks will have to do for now.
We also have not yet decided whether or not to invest in some new windows. Although most of the windows seem okay so far, we are worried that one of them is particularly old and might be letting in a draft. Of course, there are a lot of things to think about when you consider replacing your windows, so we are going to see how we get on for now and then if the draft gets worse, we might have to consider purchasing some new ones. I suppose new windows would increase the security of the property too, so that’s an added bonus. Talking of security, we are thinking about getting some CCTV cameras installed to make the property a bit safer. One of my friends recently got some in her home. She said that if anyone is thinking about getting CCTV Camera Installation – Closed Circuit TV can do it for an affordable price. She’s been really happy with her home security, so we might consider it a little later down the line.
R came home for the first time on Friday so this weekend has been spent getting him adjusted to being a house dog. That means a lot of trips to the dog park (which B isn’t complaining about) and lots of puppy kisses. So far he and B are getting along swimmingly, even if B is still a little unsure about sharing my lap.
We kept the home projects going for the 4th, opting for bed assembly over fireworks, but I loved getting to spend our holiday weekend with my little family. Hope y’all had a great 4th as well!
