10 Things You Never Knew About This Blog

Like I mentioned yesterday, one of my goals for 2015 is to grow this blog and and one of the steps is to fill in some of the blank spots. Things like an introductory post kind of fell by the way side as I focused on all my other content ideas. But I recognize that in order to grow this blog, I need to help y’all get to know Countdowns and Cupcakes, and as an extension, me.

So here we go!

1. The name “Countdowns and Cupcakes” came from my love of (both making and eating) cupcakes and how often I find myself counting down the days until A returns home from wherever he may be.

2. Almost the entirety of this blog has been written on my sofa with B draped across my lap. That will change soon (foreshadowing!), but I’ve been rocking the sofa office for quite a while now. Also, odds are yoga pants were worn for most of my writing sessions.

3. I tend to binge write this blog. I get free time in bursts and try to get as much writing done as possible during that time. It is not at all uncommon for me to write 5 or 6 posts in one sitting.

4. I get freakishly excited when people view and comment on my posts. I also get freakishly disappointed when one of my favorite posts didn’t get as much love as I’d hoped. It’s a roller coaster ride, folks.

5. One of my deepest blog fantasies is to have a custom blog design created for C&C. I haven’t had it done because I keep changing my mind as to what I want it to look like! Exploring other great blogs has given me way too many ideas.

6. My camera tripod is one of my most prized possessions when it comes to blogging. I use it all the time to help get great photos, especially when there’s limited lighting. Remember those Christmas tree photos from my holiday house tour? All thanks to the tripod.

7. This blog was started as a way to chronicle my online dating journey. If you were here from the beginning, you’d know I joined various sites after my friends starting using a BBW Dating Site. They were meeting some great men so I hoped on the action! While I have since stopped dating online (thanks A!), I just couldn’t stop blogging. So I made a shift over to more of the lifestyle blog that you enjoy today!

8. Truth: I have no idea if C&C is considered a lifestyle blog. Sometimes I have a hard time explaining what my genre is mainly because, just like fellow blogger RJ City, I don’t want to be pigeon-holed into one category. But honestly, I like to think of this blog’s identity as very similar to my own: an ever-evolving process.

9. Sometimes I have a hard time deciding what to write about because I’m always reading other blogs and loving their ideas! It’s why I have a giant list of potential blog topics in my blog planner.

10. The biggest thing I would like to improve blog-wise is my photography. I totally dream of the day when I have absolutely stunning photos on here and am really working hard to get better! Please share any tips and tricks you may have!
