Care Package #3: I’m So Lucky to Have You

Full confession: I love holidays. Like dressing up, house decorating, food making love them. Like almost more than I love glitter. From New Year’s to Christmas, I am always up for a party (especially if there are cupcakes involved!) which makes it completely reasonable that I would wholeheartedly embrace the holiday-themed care package.  I mean it. I’m pretty sure that poor thing is gasping for air due to all of my embracing.  I did Valentine’s Day with great enthusiasm and was all geared up for a very green St. Patrick’s Day box. Yes, the phrase “you shamrock my world” was tossed about. I even found dachshund-themed St. Patty’s Day cards to include! I was ready to go.

Then the military happened (I have a feeling that will become one of my most used phrases). A has been sent off on a no-phone, no-email and certainly no green-themed care package training exercise for pretty much the rest of the time he’s away. Blech.  So there sits my super cute box with no one to send it to. I was far more bummed about it than I probably should have been.  I think what I’ll end up doing is sending it with A to work when he gets home. No sense in it all going to waste!

I figured that the best way to really make a visual impact was to only buy stuff in green packages.  So off I went to Wal-Mart to stock up on all things green. I came home with quite the haul as you can see below. I even managed to find some green Easter stuff to send along as well (I had known that he’d be out of touch for Easter so I didn’t want to miss it) that fit in just perfectly. 🙂

Quite the haul…

I actually managed to get everything in a 12″ by 12″ box. I went the scrapbook paper route again because it came out so well last time and I really do think it makes the whole thing look nicer.  I scooped up the (only slightly-A has this thing about glitter) glittery shamrocks at Party City for a really good price to add on the flaps along with the wording.  In the end, it came out super cute and definitely would have brightened his day because who doesn’t love getting green food and glittery shamrocks in the mail?!

The decorated box…please note the dancing leprechaun…my favorite.
